Electrolux has officially inaugurated its new factory for kitchen equipment in
Swidnica, in the province of Lower Silesia. The company is investing over EUR 40 million there, and creating at least 400 new jobs during the next five years.
The celebration was held on 8th December. The general director of Electrolux AB, Hans Stråberg, took part in the event. Stråberg explained the decision to invest in Poland: “We have to consider the locations that guarantee the best production quality with sensible costs. The attitude of the local authorities is also extremely important, and the plant could not have been built without their exemplary cooperation. Lower Silesia fulfils all these conditions.”
The plant, with an area of over 30,000 square metres, has been under construction for about a year. Electrolux plans to produce about 150,000 new devices there next year, increasing annual production to 600,000 units in five years.
The cookers produced in Swidnica are intended mostly for export to Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. The company estimates that 90% of production will be exported. Most of the materials and components should be bought from Polish suppliers, creating additional jobs here.
