The Gillette Company European Production
Center was opened on Tuesday in ŁódĽ. The
investment outlays connected to the construction
of a safety razors factory were EUR 120 million.
Currently the plant employs 690 people working at
technologically advanced production lines.
Gillette belongs to the American Procter & Gamble
company. On a plot of 190,000 sq.m. Gillette
constructed three buildings: a production hall,
packaging and distribution centers. The plant will
produce modern razors and safety razors. Yearly
production powers will amount to 1.5 billion razors.
Most of the products will be sold in Central Eastern
Europe and Africa.

„We chose Poland as a location of P&G investment
because of favorable taxation laws, and the fact that
Polish law is congruent with the EU regulations,” said
Jacek Dzierwa, General Director at Procter & Gamble
Operations in Poland. “The people are the Polish
asset – well educated, creative and hard working.
We were impressed by the friendly approach and
support from Polish authorities,” he added.
The choice of ŁódĽ for the investment was
motivated by the central location of the city and
planned crossing of two highways nearby.

The help from local authorities was also important, since they supported construction of roads leading to the investment land equipped with media connection. Lower than in other regions wages in the ŁódĽ region were also very important. „The decision to invest in ŁódĽ was a result of careful
research on other countries which confirmed that
Poland offers best conditions for production and
distribution in Europe,” said Michael T. Cowhig,
President of Global Technical and Manufacturing at
Procter & Gamble.
The investment was located in ŁódĽ Special
Economic Zone. Its new president, Maciej
Rapkiewicz said “This is the largest investment in
the zone, but we are working towards more good
news. We are currently negotiating with several
large investors.”
Procter & Gamble employs 140000 people
worldwide. The company already announced future
investments in Poland.
