The GDP growth in 2006 will amount to 6 %, and the inflation level 2% - the European Commission (EC) has publicized in its report of economic prognosis’ for the seven biggest EU countries and the Euro zone.
The report praises Poland – from amongst the biggest EU countries it is the Polish economy which is developing the fastest. The main economic growth engine in the EU, and in Poland in particular, is household consumption.
According to the EC, the rapid economic growth should not bring about any higher level of inflation. The EC anticipates, that it won’t exceed 2%, thanks to the decreasing prices of fuel.

2006 was also advantageous in relation to the employment level – there are three million new work places in the EU, the unemployment level fell to its lowest level for 10 years of 7,5%.
In accordance with the opinion of , the unemployment level in Poland during 2007 will slowly decrease. |
